My Process

My illustrations begin with handmade pieces.

Each project moves through four main steps: sketch, modeling, photography and digital finishing.

I start by planning the character and the scene, then sculpt the pieces by hand, photograph them, and refine the final image digitally.
This process helps me create soft, tactile illustrations with a handmade feeling and a clear visual language for children’s books and visual stories.

01

Sketch

I begin with a simple sketch to plan the character, composition and mood of the scene. This first step helps me define the shapes, proportions and details before sculpting the piece by hand.

02

Modeling

I sculpt the characters and details by hand using cold porcelain clay.
At this stage, the illustration begins to gain volume, texture and personality, with soft shapes and small handmade imperfections that bring warmth to the final image.

03

Photography

I photograph the handmade pieces with attention to light, shadow and composition.
This step preserves the texture and volume of the clay, bringing the tactile quality of the physical pieces into the final illustration.

04

Digital Finishing

I refine the photographed pieces digitally, adjusting composition, colors and small details.
I may also add digital elements to complete the scene, while preserving the texture, volume and warmth of the handmade work.
